For the Remix project, I needed newspaper clippings for my background image on the website. After clipping pieces of Creative Commons jpegs, I found a website that will produce a newspaper image with what you want on it. This becomes helpful when a certain image is needed.

For my Mapping project, I needed a blue print of my house. My parents did not have one, so I went to this website and created my own. The website is very simple. You drag and click walls, windows, and doors to create your blueprint. There is also a 3-D model of the blueprint, that you can "walk" around in. The only problem with the website is that it is Flash. So, you can not save a picture without printing than scanning it.

I was first introduced to this website by Lisa Patzer. Then for another class, I had to sign up. It is filled with tutorials and helpful links that will step-by-step lead you through any web design process. There's videos that teach you web design fundamentals to how to make an I-phone application. There's a small fee, but for classes, students receive a discount.

Funny, artistic and sorta gross web site by Emily Kight

For example, the cat poops to make the 'i' in "litter" which was done in flash. It's a funny site about cats pooping in toilettes. I know its immature and stupid, BUT there are impressive qualities to this site. The sound, videos, animation, and funny quotes are really blended well together for a good laugh. The whole site is a joke and its really funny.

I saw a really awesome new music video this week. Its called this too shall pass by ok go, and it was done in only two very long steadicam shots. They have a very in depth floor plan on the video's website, and its a very good example of locative media, and it maps out the two floor warehouse and giant machine that moves throughout it.

John Curall- Photoshop Save for Web Issue

Hello All,

I encountered a problem that needed solving when I was doing my remix project. I thought maybe the problem and solution might be useful information for some of you. My project included some photos I found online that I had altered. I incorporated them into a Photoshop page layout along with a header I created, which I wanted to save as a sliced html page so that I could do rollovers. Once I got the page the way I wanted, I tried to save for web and devices, but it was grayed out and would not let me do it. I searched online and I found out that I needed to reduce the bits per channel to get this to "unlock". This is found under images then mode. My page was at 32 bits per channel so I reduced it to 16. This unlocked the save for web and devices and I was able to save it as I wanted. However, this severely degraded the quality of all of the elements on the page. In order to make the page look like the quality that I had it at initially I had to re-save for web and devices each of the individual elements on the page at the appropriate size and them replace them in Dreamweaver. This then allowed me to have the page at the quality I desired. I'm not sure if there was a way to avoid this problem in the first place. Maybe one of you knows Photoshop better and can post your thoughts. I thought maybe this could be helpful to others if they encounter this issue.

Scott Wiggins - Gorillaz Plastic Beach Map

Check out the animated band the Gorillaz website for their new album Plastic Beach. It has a flash map that allows you to travel through most of the main building. You can also go through and play mini games to open up new rooms. Rumor is that more of the island is supposed to open up in April.

For my viral video I am working on remixing some archival footage of an old public service announcement. I hope to try and mix different archival footage to change the meaning of the original PSA, and perhaps develop my own message about war and nuclear weapons.

If anyone has the need for archival footage, or possibly some inspiration for their viral video, I have noticed that the Prelinger Archives section of Archive.org is particularly useful. Also the moving images section offers a large selection of older television shows and propaganda if those would be of use to anyone

Also I was equally disappointed with the new Alice in Wonderland, very sad.
